What is Art from the Heart? by Laurel D. Rund
One day at an art show, a man walked into my Essence of Laurel booth. He was very taken by my work and asked me, “where within you does this come from?” I pointed to my heart and said, “right here.” The man smiled and said, “I can see that.” At that moment, I knew the name for my artwork would be ‘Art from the Heart.’ Many people ask me, when viewing my work, “What is that – is it a photograph? Is it a painting? What medium do you use?”
Digital tools have given me the freedom to create captivating and unique art for home and heart. Here is a description of my medium:
“I digitally combine my photographs, pastels, and drawings, and then blend them together to create a new composition. Then I go into my digital toolbox and create new colors, shapes, lines, curves, details, and perspectives ~ until the piece speaks to me and tells me its name. For me, it is artwork which is bestowed by life and embroidered by imagination.”
The words I hear most often at art shows, when people gaze at my work, are “inspirational” and “moving.” It is then that I know that my unique art for home and heart has touched someone’s spirit and has met its purpose. Laurel
Laurel D. Rund’s Art from the Heart is a beautiful and unique gift which is filled with whimsical, and dreamlike weaves of color, movement, and light. “Sometimes my brush has bristles, sometimes it has layers!”
Laurel’s artwork fuses elements from original pastels, photographs, touch drawings or mixed media collages into an inspirational art form. Her digital art is a canvas provided by life and embroidered by imagination. It is spirit-filled and will grace any space it inhabits.
Laurel’s quote art shows her love for words and art – a small compilation is shown in the video below
